Better Rest Solutions, Creator of SoClean® and SoClean® 2 Go, to Donate to National Sleep Foundation in Recognition of the Organization’s Drowsy Driving Prevention Week

Boston, MA (PRWEB) November 03, 2014

Better Rest Solutions, creator of the SoClean CPAP Cleaner and Sanitizer and the SoClean 2 Go CPAP Sanitizer for Travel, is excited to announce a special donation to the National Sleep Foundation (NSF) in recognition of Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, an annual public awareness campaign sponsored by the NSF. For every SoClean and SoClean 2 Go sold in the month of November, Better Rest Solutions will donate $ 5 per sale to the NSF. Additionally, the company will donate $ 1 for every 10 individuals (up to $ 2,500) who pledge to take a stand against drowsy driving at http://bit.ly/StopDrowsyDriving.

Drowsy Driving Prevention Week runs from November 2-9, with the goal of educating young drivers (and everyone on the road) about the dangers of driving while sleepy. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drowsy driving causes 100,000+ crashes per year, resulting in approximately 40,000 injuries and 1,550 deaths.

The 18 million+ Americans who have sleep apnea – a disorder that causes people to stop breathing in their sleep – are at high risk of drowsy driving-related car accidents, as one of the main symptoms of sleep apnea is daytime sleepiness. The American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine reports that drivers are 15 times more likely to be involved in a deadly car accident when they have excessive daytime sleepiness.

CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) therapy is one of the most common methods of treatment for sleep apnea, and keeping one’s CPAP clean and sanitary is essential to CPAP functionality and compliance. Better Rest Solutions created the SoClean and SoClean 2 Go to make it easy for CPAP users to safely and naturally clean and sanitize their equipment. The automated devices effectively eliminate 99.9% of CPAP mold, bacteria and viruses, using the same 100% natural sanitizing process found in water purification, produce handling and hotel housekeeping.

In honor of Drowsy Driving Prevention Week, Better Rest Solutions is encouraging people to take the pledge against drowsy driving at http://bit.ly/StopDrowsyDriving. For each 10 individuals who pledge, Better Rest Solutions will donate $ 1 to the NSF. In addition to this, Better Rest Solutions will donate $ 5 to the NSF for every SoClean or SoClean 2 Go sold in the month of November.

“Drowsy Driving Prevention Week is such an important campaign for sleep apnea patients to be aware of,” said Mike Schmidt, President, Better Rest Solutions. “We’re glad to take this opportunity to raise awareness of the dangers of excessive daytime sleepiness and contribute to the National Sleep Foundation as a way of showing our support for all they do.”

Better Rest Solutions also recently published an informational white paper on the effect that sleep apnea has on commercial truck drivers just in time for Drowsy Driving Prevention Week. You can read the white paper here.

About Better Rest Solutions

Better Rest Solutions was founded in July 2011 in Uxbridge, Massachusetts, with the goal of improving the health and quality of life of those who suffer from obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) and other sleep disorders.

Founder Mike Schmidt and SoClean creator Tim Leyva both have personal experience with sleep apnea. As such, they recognized the challenges faced by CPAP users and began to understand how failure to properly clean CPAP equipment could interfere with effective CPAP therapy.

With so many suffering from OSA and many more being diagnosed every day, Better Rest Solutions remains committed to meeting OSA sufferers’ ever-growing needs. This commitment is what led to the development of the SoClean, a first-of-its-kind product that has revolutionized CPAP cleaning and sanitizing, and the SoClean 2 Go, an automated CPAP sanitizer for travel.
