Krasowski Dental Offers Newly FDA-Cleared SomnoMed G2 Sleep Apnea Treatment

Krasowski Dental is now utilizing the SomnoMed G2 lingual-less oral appliance for almost all its sleep apnea treatment. This new treatment was cleared by the FDA on May 30, 2012 (510(k) No: K121340), and contains all the features necessary for reimbursement by Medicare.
Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) has long been the only clinically-recognized treatment for obstructive sleep apnea, but in recent years oral appliances have been shown to be just as effective for and more easily tolerated by many patients. In January 2011, Medicare along with many private insurers even began reimbursements for oral appliances.
To be reimbursable by Medicare, an oral appliance must have the following features:
A hinged or jointed mechanism
Capable of mandibular advancement
Adjustable by you and your dentist
Capable of retaining adjustment when removed
The SomnoMed G2 has these features, so that if a patient meets with Dr. John Krasowski before having a sleep test with qualifying results, reimbursement by Medicare or private insurance is possible.
