Online CPAP Community CPAPtalk.com Releases Results of the Fifth Product Challenge

Houston, TX (PRWEB) September 12, 2008

The CPAPtalk.com Product Challenge is an industry first opportunity for CPAP manufacturers with similar products to challenge each other publicly in CPAP user satisfaction trials. The Fifth Product Challenge was initiated by SleepNet to compare the differences between the IQ Gel Nasal Mask and the ComfortGel Nasal Mask. CPAP users chose the ComfortGel as the winner by a vote of 40 to 10. Detailed results may be viewed at http://iq-cg-nasal.cpaptalk.com.

The largest enrollment for a Product Challenge to date, 824 Respironics ComfortGel users signed up to participate. All Product Challenges are administered in an impartial manner and customer preferences are not influenced by either manufacturer. Fifty people were selected through an open enrollment and the CPAPtalk Product Challenge vetting standards. An IQ Nasal Mask was sent to each participant who utilized the mask for two weeks and completed a detailed satisfaction survey.

Results are being published in Sleep Review Magazine, which will carry featured advertisements of each winner. Press releases with the results being made public will follow each Product Challenge. Announcements will be posted on the main page, as well as, the Product Challenge section of CPAPtalk.com. The manufacturer of the winning product will receive a congratulatory letter, winner’s certificate and an invitation to a Trophy Presentation Ceremony hosted by CPAPtalk.com.

The Winner’s Seal is the badge of excellence bestowed by the Product Challenge. The emblem is expected to boost consumer confidence and increase conversion rates for retailers. Any CPAP website interested in using the Product Challenge emblem is welcome to copy and paste code from each completed challenge page. The symbol provides a link to relevant content for informational CPAP and Sleep Apnea websites. CPAPtalk expects this will improve sales for brick and mortar dealers and Internet websites alike.

Sleep Diagnostic Facilities, Physicians and Durable Medical Equipment providers all benefit from these product trials. The Product Challenge provides a free source for standardized measurements of product satisfaction within the CPAP community. The Challenge results reduce the need for costly in house testing and give providers a data point for product knowledge that is not influenced by corporate sales representatives and marketers.

Manufacturers benefit by using the Product Challenge to objectively improve the marketability of their products. This tool can be used by manufacturers looking to draw additional attention to the launch of a new product, build their brand image or expand their presence in a new niche. A manufacturer’s success in the Product Challenge will provide compelling marketing material for a representative, establishing creditability with diagnostic facilities, physicians, dealers and patients.

Manufacturers do not lose in a Product Challenge. Any vote for the challenger is a CPAP user finding a product that works better for their personal sleep therapy to treat Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Management can use the experience as a feedback loop between the CPAP users, product design and product satisfaction to potentially improve their products. Manufacturers who embrace this new paradigm will connect with CPAP users and provide superior products that customers can use.
