Online CPAP Community CPAPtalk.com Releases Results of the Third Product Challenge

Houston, TX (PRWEB) April 11, 2008

CPAPtalk.com releases results of the Third Product Challenge, with the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask defeating the Hans Rudolph V2 Full Face Mask by a vote of 44 to 6.

The Product Challenge is an industry first opportunity for CPAP manufacturers with similar products

to challenge each other publicly in CPAP user satisfaction trials. The third Product Challenge was between the Hans Rudolph V2 Full Face Mask and the ResMed Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask. CPAP users chose the Ultra Mirage as the winner by a vote of 44 to 6.

The Product Challenge began with a brief open enrollment period. Over five hundred and fifty current Ultra Mirage Full Face Mask users signed up to participate. The challenge was administered in a professional and impartial manner with rules against manufacturer contact and discussions or disclosures during the trial period. Fifty people were selected from those enrolled via the CPAPtalk Product Challenge vetting standards. The Hans Rudolph V2 Full Face Mask was utilized for two weeks and rated via a detailed satisfaction survey.

Sleep Review Magazine will carry special feature advertisements of winners throughout the year. Press releases will follow the conclusion of each Product Challenge. Announcements will also be posted on the main page and Product Challenge section of CPAPtalk.com. The manufacturer of the winning product will receive a congratulatory letter and an invitation to a Trophy Presentation Ceremony hosted by CPAPtalk.com.

CPAP.com has agreed to display the CPAPtalk Product Challenge Winner emblem on the product page of each winner. Any CPAP website interested in using the Product Challenge emblem is welcome to copy and paste code from each completed challenge page. The emblem is expected to boost consumer confidence and order conversion rates for retailers and provide relevant content for informational CPAP and Sleep Apnea websites. CPAPtalk expects this will improve sales of Challenge winners at brick and mortar and Internet websites alike.

Sleep Diagnostic Facilities, Physicians and Durable Medical Equipment providers will benefit from the Product Challenge’s free and standardized measurements of product satisfaction by customers. The results will reduce the need for costly in house testing. They will also give providers a product knowledge data point that is independent of those provided by corporate sales representatives.

Manufacturers benefit from the Product Challenge by using it to objectively prove the superiority of their products. This tool can be used by manufacturers looking to draw extra attention to the launch of a new product, build their brand image or expand their presence in a new niche. A manufacturer’s success in the Product Challenge will provide compelling marketing material for a representative to extol the virtues of their product to sleep diagnostic facilities, physicians, dealers and patients.

Manufacturers losing a challenge may suffer. However, CPAP users suffer nightly due to the industry’s lack of standardized, free and available product knowledge. The product challenge represents a feedback loop between CPAP user product satisfaction and the manufacturers who produce products. Manufacturers who embrace this new paradigm will please CPAP users and prosper. Organizations who follow unsuccessful product trials with revised products based on feedback received will gain respect and visibility as patient driven organizations.
