Sleep960 Partners with Sleep Industry Veteran to Develop a Virtual Coaching Website Addressing the Needs of Frustrated CPAP Users

Fort Myers, FL (PRWEB) April 30, 2013

Signature Sleep Services (dba Sleep960) announced today it has formed a joint venture with sleep industry veteran Robyn Woidtke, MSN, RN, RPSGT, CCP, CSE to develop the website CPAPCoach.com addressing the multitude of issues surrounding CPAP therapy adherence and life style management. Not every patient will need CPAPCoach, but for those who may require the extra special attention to overcome their barriers and ambivalence of therapy for obstructive sleep apnea, this site will be a great asset.

CPAPCoach will offer both telephone and live video coaching sessions where patients can arrange their own appointment times using the online scheduling option. There are 3 coaching sessions spaced a few weeks apart that total 1 hour, giving the patient time to adapt lessons discussed during each segment. Group sessions will also be available for patients more comfortable in this setting which will encourage individuals to share their experiences.

Using evidence based practices which incorporate motivational interviewing; CPAPCoach focuses on the individualized needs of the patient. By utilizing the Adherence by Alliance (™ pending) program, founded on the premise that person centeredness, respect, empathy, encouragement and support, patients can find their inner strength and confidence. Although the goal of the Adherence by Alliance program is to assist patients to overcome their personal sleep therapeutic hurdles, CPAPCoach does not stop there. Coaching with regards to life-style management, including healthy sleep, will also be included.

Considering sleep is a necessary component to a healthy life there is few, if any, health coaching programs specifically focused on sleep health. Since many patients with sleep issues also have the burden of other chronic illnesses, CPAPCoach is sensitive to these comorbidities and will help patients by incorporating an approach which takes these complexities into consideration.

“My experience as a nurse and sleep technologist and my thorough knowledge of sleep and associated disorders ensures that patients will receive the coaching they need” stated Robyn, CPAPCoach founder, “Recent data support that in spite of technological improvements in OSA therapy, acceptance and adherence remains relatively low. There is evidence to support the use of nurse-led motivational interviewing as an adjunct to the standard of care with success. CPAPCoach can provide that one-on-one coaching for patients, which fills the current gap of practice in the United States.”

The changing landscape of sleep medicine with the increasing use of home sleep testing from a wide array of providers, utilization companies making decisions about testing, and a changing sleep workforce with varying skill levels may leave patients limited options for support and attention. Sleep should be an intimate companion in population health improvement models, ACO’s and the Medical Home. CPAPCoach fills an unmet need for patients and providers alike.

CPAPCoach will be officially introduced at the SLEEP2013 meeting in Baltimore June 3, 2013.

CPAPCoach is a partner of the SleepLinkz platform which will also be introduced at this meeting.
