Snoring: Bad for Relationships, Bad for Health

Snoring: Bad for Relationships, Bad for Health

Phoenix, AZ (PRWEB) December 20, 2013

In these stressful times, a good night’s sleep has become especially valuable, and increasingly difficult to get. Snoring and sleep apnea (a medical problem where the airway collapses during sleep and breathing stops) rob people and their bed partners of the rest they need to face their daily challenges.

45% of the population snores and 20 million people in the United States alone have sleep apnea. Of these, only 10% have been diagnosed and treated; and of those treated, many cannot tolerate their prescribed medical device known as CPAP (continuous positive air pressure supplied through a nasal mask) – which supports the airway during sleep.

Snoring Isn’t Sexy® was formed to alert the public to the medical dangers and social hazards of snoring and sleep apnea, and to introduce an alternative treatment that can be provided by specially trained dentists.

Small, comfortable, dental mouthpieces that hold the lower jaw in a forward position have been proven to support the airway to prevent collapse, and have been approved as a primary treatment in mild to moderate sleep apnea – and, as an alternative to, or in conjunction with CPAP when needed.

Michael Glass, DDS, of Phoenix, Arizona is now affiliated with Snoring Isn’t Sexy. He is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorders Disciplines, American Dental Association, Arizona Dental Association and the Academy of General Dentistry. He has been providing expert dental care in the Phoenix area (Phoenix, Ahwatukee, Chandler, Scottsdale and Tempe) for over 8 years.

Dr. Glass earned his dental degree from the New York University College of Dentistry after earning his bachelor’s degree from Albright College. Prior to entering private practice, he served a general practice residency at Lincoln Hospital and Mental Health Center.

Dr. Glass has taken extensive continuing education courses specializing in sleep apnea and sleep disorders, and has had hours of training with some of the most prominent dental sleep medicine specialists in the country. He has completed numerous continuing education courses across the country; and is one of the first dentists to provide Oral Appliance Therapy for snoring and sleep apnea in the Phoenix area.

“I am fortunate to be in a profession where I can make such a positive impact on people’s lives. When a patient tells me that I helped save their marriage, helped save their life, or gave them the confidence to achieve new goals, I realize I am so privileged to be doing something so special,” says Dr. Glass.
